Your current thoughts, feelings or behaviours are stemming from a belief embedded deep down in your subconscious mind. And the only way to circumnavigate and formulate new beliefs, is by communicating directly to your subconscious mind.
Hypnosis is an evidence-based modality and has a long-proven history, as a non-invasive cognitive reprogramming therapy. It was Scottish physician and surgeon Dr James Braid who first began to use the word ‘hypnosis’. Derived from the Greek word ‘Hypnos’ meaning sleep, in the 1840’s. Throughout time, it has been proven that there is a very strong and effective connection, between our subconscious and conscious mind and the benefits are both physical, emotional and psychological.
Our current thinking which determines our behaviour, is formed by our memories and the meanings we have attached to our memories. But the problem with relying on our memories, is that overtime, our memories become distorted, hazy and they fragment. Old memories, some we aren’t even consciously aware of, can keep us imprisoned and trapped in a life that we wish was so very different.
Being free from unwanted thoughts, emotions or behaviours, occurs when we alleviate and relinquish the meanings we have attached to those past memories or events.
By removing entrenched beliefs, often ones we don’t realise we are holding onto, our thinking and behaviour instinctively changes. Sanctioning and deeply reinforcing the new thoughts, feelings and behaviours we want to amplify and sustain.
Our subconscious mind has no logic. It thinks in terms of right or wrong, on or off, yes or no, day or night etc. It keeps things very simple and from a very young age, our subconscious mind has been wanting to protect us. It wants to keep us happy, healthy and safe in all areas of our life.
I will use the example of anxiety to demonstrate this point. When Fred was young, he was bitten by a dog. So, his subconscious mind thinks ‘all dogs bite’ and now every time he sees a dog, his subconscious mind thinks it still has to protect him.
The subconscious mind then says “Remember when you were little and that dog bit you? Don’t worry, I’m here to protect you. I know what to do!” Then the subconscious mind will say “Ok emotions, let’s get this party started” and then the tight feelings in Fred’s chest will appear, his thoughts begin to race, his hands feel sweaty and his belly starts to churn.
While Fred’s subconscious mind is off rallying and intensifying the negative thoughts and emotions, because it thinks it still needs to protect him from the dog, his conscious mind which is very logical, is saying “Don’t be stupid Fred. Stop it. You are a grownup now, act like one and stop being so silly.”
If it was that simple and easy to change our thoughts, emotions or behaviour by just telling ourselves to, then our conscious mind would make it happen. But of course, we all know that is not how it works. If only it was that simple.
It is that simple! Because when you work with me, I will facilitate and elicit the shifts and strengthen the transformations you are wanting to achieve.
